HorseCare

The HorseCare seminars offered at Birchwood Farm Equine Learning Center are unique as they provide you with a variety of information based on my knowledge acquired as a graduate of the Kentucky Horse Park Equine Science & Management Program, my professional experience as the Director of a Therapeutic Riding Center and my personal experience as a horse owner. In addition, I continue to participate in clinics and workshops with horse professionals and clinicians across the country.

If you are contemplating to lease or buy a horse, the seminar "HorseCare for the Horse Owner To-Be" will provide you with hands-on experience and important information you should consider before making such a big decision.

Questions to ask yourself...
  • What kind of horse do I want or need?
  • What discipline am I interested in?
  • How much time can I commit to my horse?
  • How much money can I invest to purchase a horse and how much does it cost me annually to keep it?
  • What options do I have for keeping my horse?

During the seminar we will discuss many topics and provide you with the information required to make a solid decision.

Once you made the choice to own a horse "HorseCare for the New Horse Owner" will give you a hands-on experience and information on daily HorseCare.
This will include...
  • Options on where to keep your horse
  • What food to feed, and how to recognize if your horse is not feeling well.
  • What to do when your horse is injured.
  • How to choose a veterinarian and how to approach hoof and dental care.
  • Suggestions on tack and equipment and how to ensure proper fit for your horse and you.
  • Where do you start looking for a trainer or instructor.

As you might know by now, there is plenty of horse care and management information on the internet and in books available. However, none of these resources can provide you with personalized answers and hands-on experience.
